The Road to Tasting Heaven

Marguerite began baking after watching her sister bake for her friends. For years she would watch her sister and learn her techniques. When Marguerite turned 11 her mother bought a Betty Crocker cookbook to help her learn more about baking. And Learn she did!

She began with making little pastries and cookies for family and friends, then quickly turned into birthday cakes and Wedding cakes. In 1978 all of that changed when Marguerite sold her first cake. She moved on to making King Cakes and continued from home until the neighbors began to complain. In 1991 Marguerite opened up a location in Metairie, LA and struggled to find equipment and employees. Her faith in God helped her through. On opening day, the line of guests waiting to purchase her cakes went down the block.

Marguerite opened her current location in 2002 off Gause Blvd. in Slidell, LA and has been selling a “Taste of Heaven” for over 40 years. All that anyone can say about Marguerites Cakes is… “If you want the best, it has to be Marguerite’s”
